Pelvic floor therapy
Do you have pelvic pain with intimacy or after surgery or childbirth?
Pelvic floor therapy
Pelvic floor therapy involves physical methods of strengthening and/or relaxing the muscles of the pelvic floor to help improve core stability and control over urination, bowel movements, and sexual function.
Research supports pelvic floor therapy as a minimally invasive treatment option that should be used as a first-line method for treating various types of pelvic floor dysfunction.
On the day of your pelvic floor therapy evaluation, you will be brought into a private treatment room. Your physical therapist will go over your medical history, symptoms, and complaints.
She will also perform a physical exam, which will consist of an external component of the lumbar spine, sacroiliac joints, and pelvis. And an internal component of your pelvic floor muscles by assessing for tone, elasticity, pain, and tenderness through palpating the pelvic floor muscles from the inside.
Biofeedback to reduce or increase tonicity
Internal Manual Therapy/Adhesion reduction
Vaginal dilators/Weighted cones
Electrical Stimulation - increase blood flow
Functional Exercises
Lifestyle Changes: fitness, nutrition, sleep, relaxation

Wear something comfortable. A loose dress or skirt is practical for the manual assessment. We also have gowns you are welcome to wear.
Heidi's experience and training in Women's Health began just after she started her first job in 1997 as a licensed physical therapist in Florida. Her boss mentioned it was a new area for PTs and they were getting amazing results. Heidi discovered that since PTs understand muscles, bones, biomechanics and nerves, we can apply the same principals to the pelvis. Yes, the muscles and structures are much smaller in the pelvic floor but they follow the same principles when healing a hurt back or shoulder. The challenge is no-one else knows what to do unless specially trained since a woman's body and her story is unique. Heidi advanced her education with Janet Hulme and Herman & Wallace and has never stopped learning more about helping women re-gain their freedom.
